With Covid-19 forcing a large majority of employees to work remotely, while other employees, who have to physically be present in the workplace, are living with the fear of picking up the virus along the way, or in the workplace and bring it home to their loved ones. We had to make some significant changes in the way we work, live, learn and interact.

Both scenarios present new and significant challenges for HR professionals across South Africa. This seminar will explore the objectives that the Junior HR Professional must master under these new working conditions. You will learn techniques for adding significant value to your role and strategies for managing under these circumstances, while building productive relationships with co-workers and other departments in your organisation

Sarah Pienaar, Virtual Collaboration & Leadership Consultant, Co-founder of FuturePrufe Consultancy
Sarah is passionate about learning, growth, and transformation. Over the course of 18 years she fulfilled various HRD roles in multi-national corporate environments, including L&D Manager for T-Systems South Africa and Senior Leadership Development Consultant in the Global HRD Competence Centre of Deutsche Telekom (DT). Sarah co-founded FuturePrufe with Maryke Burnett, offering specialised consulting services for organisations transforming to remote workplaces. The provide consulting and virtual training for teams, leaders, facilitators, and salespeople making the transition to virtual working. As Growth Catalyst she also provides the full range of Learning and Development consulting services, including Leadership Development, Culture Change and Agile Transformations.
Dr Angela du Plessis, Mediator, Labour Relations and Organisational Development Consultant
Angela specialised in Social Work at the Workplace and has had a number of roles over the years, including Company Social Worker, CCMA Commissioner, Organisation Development Consultant and Mediator. She was invited to start the first postgraduate course in Occupational Social Work at Wits and ran an Honours and Masters Programme for 10 years. She consulted widely during this time to the Mining and Financial Services sectors.
Marnelle Vermeulen, HR Practitioner, Platinum Software
Experienced HR Practitioner with a demonstrated history of working in the computer software industry. Skilled in Recruiting, Human Resource Development and Training. Strong human resources professional with a B.Comm. Human Resource Management degree. Focused in Human Resources Management and Services from North West University: Potchefstroom.
Gail Sturgess, Agile People Coach & Human Capital Strategist, Talent Align
Gail is an IT person by profession, specialising in Financial Systems and BI. Today she consults and coaches’ executives and leaders on people development and alignment with a special focus on “Creating tomorrow’s workforce today.” Gail’s passion is “Creating a workplace where people and the organisation grow together and achieve their highest selves” and her areas of specialist expertise are: Designing organisations for flexibility and growth – SA and Africa; Designing careers to develop today’s and tomorrow’s workforce; Risk Management through Succession and Workforce Planning; New Generation Performance Management. Gail is the co-author of the Core™ Agile People Management and the Remote Worker Management online programmes. Gail successfully completed the MBA programme and the Fundamentals of Executive Coaching programme at UCT and is a Certified Human Capital Strategist, and a Certified Agile People Coach.
Joani van Vuuren, Senior Associate, Webber Wentzel
Joani is a specialist in general employment and labour law. Her experience includes restraint of trade advice and negotiations, disciplinary proceedings at various levels, unlawful competition, and labour related litigation.
Marius Meyer, Chairperson of SABPP and an HR Academic in the Department of Industrial Psychology at Stellenbosch University
Marius has been an HR practitioner, consultant, conference speaker, academic, board member and manager for the past 25 years. In 2018 he received an honorary doctoral degree from the Vaal University of Technology for his contribution to the HR profession, in particular for his pioneering work in the area of HR Standards.
Radhi Vandayar, Owner, ThruVision Consulting, President Elect: EAPA South Africa Board, Professional Coach, MBA Mentor and Academic Tutor
Radhi is a passionate people engagement professional that owns a training and coaching consultancy. She is also currently an MBA mentor/academic tutor at Henley business school for their MBA students. Then recently she was elected to the post of president elect of the EAPA Board. She has served on the board for the last 11 years. She is passionate about people development and therefore works within the Human capital space as a consultant on Employee wellness and for the last 15 years. Her previous position at ICAS is Strategic L&D Manager has exposed her to a number of industries that has developed her vast experience in people engagement and wellbeing interventions.

SETA grants and accreditation requirements
Many of our delegates enquire about the accreditation of our events. There is a misconception that organisations qualify for SETA grants only for accredited programmes. This is not correct. The payment of SETA grants is regulated by the Government Gazette, no. 9867, Vol. 570, 3 December 2012, no. 35940. These Regulations clearly state that the SETAs “must allocate a mandatory grant to a levy paying employer” that has submitted a WSP and ATR by the regulated date, has provided all the information required in the regulated template, and is up to date with skills levy payments. Furthermore, the template in the Regulations (Section C: Skills Development) allows employers to include ALL planned training in the report; not only accredited programmes.
