“Agile” is not new. It has been around since the late 1990s. But it was mostly used in startup or smaller IT software development organisations. Agile started to become mainstream around 2010 when other organisations recognised the advantages of using agile methods over traditional methods, in terms of time saving, money saving and quality of output. In 2018 the term Enterprise Agility started to be heard, meaning that agile methodologies are being considered beyond the original IT software development.
When large organisations started to adopt more agile approaches to business, management and HR were thrown off course. Because “going agile” didn’t just mean a change of process (as though that’s not enough), but it involved a change in culture, a change in mindset, a change in structure, a change in jobs – in fact, a change in the whole “way we do things here!” Enterprise Agility is a whole new and different business model.
This program helps leaders and managers responsible for an agile workforce, and HR professionals responsible for supporting these leaders and managers, to better understand the changes that need to take place, and the changes that they need to adopt to ensure that business agility achieves the success that is possible. True Business Agility starts with leadership and management, and this course puts you on the right track to achieve it.
The CORE™ Agile People Management program is an eLearning program that relies on an online Learner Management System (LMS). Therefore, learners need to have reliable internet access with the ability to view videos and download PDF files. Learners will also need to have access to Zoom for the virtual Q&A and Coaching sessions. Each course is limited to between 5 and 10 learners. This should accommodate individuals and organisations that would like to put their entire team on the program. The course runs monthly, starting on the first Monday of each month. There will be no Q&A and Coaching sessions from 16 December to 16 January each year.

8 Weeks (+/- 40 hours)
Lessons: 2 lessons per week
Time: 2 to 4 hours per week
eLearning supported by Facilitation
There are 15 lessons in total, and each learner is expected to complete 2 lessons per week. Each lesson consists of between 3 and 5 modules, and each module takes about 20 to 30 minutes. There are one or two modules that are a bit longer. This is because of the complexity of the subject matter.
At the end of each module there is a short quiz, and at the end of each lesson there is an assignment. Each learner is expected to:
- Achieve at least 80% in the quizzes, and
- Submit an assignment that meets the given criteria for each of the 2 lessons each week. This is a requirement for the Certificate of Achievement.
On the Friday of the 2nd, 5th and 8th week there will be a virtual Question and Answer and Coaching session

Virtual Office Hours:
Virtual office hours via Zoom will be held twice a week to address questions and queries. These are:
- Tuesdays 10:00 - 11:00 am (CAT), and
- Thursday 1:00-2:00 pm (CAT).
Learners are also encouraged to ask questions by email as they occur and Gail and Anja will address them in the next Q&A and Coaching session.

The assignments are practical and related to your workplace. The idea is, at the end of the program, you will have an Agile People Management plan ready for approval and implementation in your organisation.

There are notes for each lesson in PDF format. They are downloadable from each lesson. It is suggested that learners download and print these before starting the video. This is so that you can make appropriate notes.
Where applicable, links to other reading material and videos are provided. They are not obligatory, but add to your knowledge of the topic.

Anja was one of the first to be authorised as an Agile People professional and facilitator. The ex-Sage HR Director now consults with leaders and HR teams on all people-related aspects with a specific focus on integrating agile principles and practices. She is a leadership coach and an expert in supporting teams to remain relevant and thrive in the future of work. She also works for various companies as a facilitator focusing on leadership development, mentoring and change management. Anja is a leadership consultant, talent strategist, mentor and coach with more than 25 years of executive experience in the Africa, Middle East, Asia and Australia region. She has led multi-national teams through transition and change management. Anja consults to executives and leaders from small businesses through to large organisations on all people-related aspects with a specific focus on integrating the talent of the business into the overall strategy.
