In today’s highly-competitive environment, companies are constantly seeking better business results. In order to achieve this, they aim for:

  • Faster time-to-market for their products
  • Earlier return on investment
  • Better customer satisfaction
  • Improved quality of their products

Agile enables these outcomes, offering more collaboration, less linear planning, shorter work cycles, and more transparency throughout the organisation. And while Agile practices have been applied in the software industry since the 1990s, it’s application in HR is still relatively new.

As such, even though organisations understand the value of becoming more Agile, they are often hesitant to begin the process, not knowing where to begin or worried that the shift to Agile will cause too much disruption within the organisation.

Independent management consulting firm IQbusiness released its 2019 State of Agile SA Report in October. The 2019 report doubled as a call to action for companies to adopt a more Agile approach across the value chain, to challenge leadership to enable better ways of working in all areas, and, most importantly, to solidify the customer as the ‘golden thread’ in all activities in order to achieve business agility.

As the report states: Only 25% of management and senior management report a notable improvement in the ability to adapt to change. This is primarily because organisations are still project and matrix organisations, with traditional budgeting processes that will slow them down. Over and above this, Agile ways of working have been a focus predominantly within IT and not necessarily upstream (customer and business requirements) and downstream (operations). IT is no longer the bottleneck; Agile ways of working need to be adopted across the value chain. Without shifting the entire value chain, leadership can’t expect to experience the full benefits of business agility.

For this reason, the HR Goes Agile Conference 2020 will be a local, case-study driven event, focusing on sharing the stories of South African organisations and how they have made the shift towards Agile ways of working. In addition to unpacking the theories and practical applications behind the Agile movement, this two-day conference will give HR professionals an overview of other South African organisations Agile journeys.

The HR Goes Agile Conference 2020 is the first conference of its kind in South Africa to specifically focus on the role of HR in guiding and facilitating organisations in becoming Agile. In addition, it’s the only conference to feature Agile case studies from some of South Africa’s leading organisations, including IQbusiness (State of Agile in SA Report), Takealot, Purple Group, Omnia Holdings, Altron Nexus, Capitec Bank and more… Don’t miss this opportunity to learn how they successfully implemented Agile practices, the lessons that were learnt along the way and the business benefits they’re experiencing as a result.

SETA grants and accreditation requirements
Many of our delegates enquire about the accreditation of our events. There is a misconception that organisations qualify for SETA grants only for accredited programmes. This is not correct. The payment of SETA grants is regulated by the Government Gazette, no. 9867, Vol. 570, 3 December 2012, no. 35940. These Regulations clearly state that the SETAs “must allocate a mandatory grant to a levy paying employer” that has submitted a WSP and ATR by the regulated date, has provided all the information required in the regulated template, and is up to date with skills levy payments. Furthermore, the template in the Regulations (Section C: Skills Development) allows employers to include ALL planned training in the report; not only accredited programmes.
